Cry of the Cat is the first novel of R. L. Stine's Goosebumps: Series 2000. It is about a girl named Allison Moore who finds a strange gray cat named Rip that scratches her, but the scratches glow and heal quickly. As the story progresses, the girl becomes more and more like a cat, and finds out that the cat has a disease that turns its victims cat-like and eventually kills them.

The book was first published in January of 1998. The story bears a close resemblance to Stine's earlier short story The Cat's Tale.

In the TV version of this episode, the protagonist is a teen actress who is starring in the film version of a horror movie called Cry of the Cat. The rest of the plot follows the original story.
