"Cry For You" is the title of a number-one Billboard Hot Dance Airplay single by Swedish singer September. The Dance Pop track spent two weeks at the top spot in May 2007[1]. In the United States it is second follow up to "Satellites," where it peaked at number 8 on the Dance Airplay chart in September 2006, while overseas it is the fifth single release, following "It Doesn't Matter." The track is also featured on the Ultra Records American Dance CD compilation Ultra:Weekend 3. The singer had huge success in Sweden as well as the rest of Europe, and can be considered her biggest hit as of yet together with "Satellites". In her homeland of Sweden, "Cry for You" peaked at the number 6 position on the Swedish Top 60 Singles Chart for two weeks in a row. It remained on the singles chart in Sweden for 17 nonconsecutive weeks. It now currently stands as the 936 best song of all time in Sweden.[2]
The song received a rerelease in the UK & Ireland, via Hard2Beat Records, a subsidiary of Ministry Of Sound. The track was remixed, and a new video was shot. The track was released digitally on 7th April 2008, and was released physically on 14th April 2008. Due to the new, dance style remix, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at #9, and later climbed to #5, following the physical release of the song.
The song samples the 1980s hit Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat.
