[edit] Where to redirect

At present Croydon redirects to London Borough of Croydon and that article has a note at the top redirecting to here, Croydon (disambiguation).

I think it should stay that way for some time because:

  • there are over an hundred articles pointing to Croydon all of which (except User:Nickj's), I believe, refer to the London Borough of Croydon
  • at c. 300K population, the London Croydon is probably bigger than all the other Croydon's put together. (I mean by population - I know some Australian suburbs can be very generous with their plot sizes.)

I agree that the London Croydon should stay - it has the current inbound links, so a new disambiguation page definitely seems the way to go. -- Nickj (t) 23:00, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Croydon Airport

I deleted Croydon Airport, added by User:KF. I think this page should just disambiguate Croydons in different parts of the world.

If Croydon Airport is put back, there are at least ten other articles with Croydon in their title that have equal right to be here. And they should be on a ** indent under London Borough of Croydon.

Hi, if you are prepared to put principle above usability removing Croydon Airport is just what you would do. In case you're interested what made me add the airport in the first place, I was looking for that article, couldn't find anything easily under Croydon but saw at once that there was a disambiguation page on Croydon. Not finding the aerodrome there either was disappointing.
I see from your user page that you live in Croydon. I guess the vast majority of people associate the name with air travel and are looking for Croydon Airport only. Some of them might not even know in which area, country etc. to look for it. All the best, <KF> 10:09, Feb 1, 2005 (UTC)
