[edit] Requests for Clarification

"The cable has since been operating and, generally, sells electricity from the New England power grid to the Northeast power grid." This doesn't seem exactly clear. New England is located in the Northeast U.S., so these two regions seem to be the same thing. The cable runs from Connecticut to Long Island, and neither "New England" or "Northeast" equate obviously to either region. Can anyone fix this sentence to whatever the meaning ought to be? [edit] Environmental hazards in merely operating it?

I can imagine how creating a trench and laying the cable might cause environmental damage, but after that has already been done, how would flipping the switch cause environmental damage? -- 71.112.8.192 06:03, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Elementary conservatism. The Glen Cove connection is AC. AC is old, thus natural, thus safe. The Shorham connection is DC. DC is new, thus unnatural, thus unsafe. Yes, the sylogism illustrates that conservatism is sometimes stupid, and that stupidity doesn't always preclude political power. Jim.henderson 04:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
