[edit] Summary
This is an image of a portrait given by the artist Joanna Dunham to the Britten-Pears Foundation. It shows Joan Cross, creator of the role of Elizabeth in Britten's opera Gloriana, which she sang opposite the Essex of Peter Pears.
The image was made to promote the showing of the original portrait and to promote the work of the Britten-Pears Foundation. The purpose of the Britten-Pears Foundation is to " promote the musical legacy of Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears," so I'm hoping that using it as an illustration for the Gloriana page squeezes in under fair use.
