Crown Castle International Corp. NYSECCI is an American corporation which provides infrastructure for broadcasting and mobile telephony. It operates in the United States, Puerto Rico and Australia. It provides mobile telephone coverage to 92% of the Australian population and 68 of the top 100 markets in the US on behalf of service providers such as 3, AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Telefónica O2, Nextel, Orange, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Vodafone. The Corporate office is based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

On August 31, 2004 Crown Castle completed the sale of its UK subsidiary, Crown Castle UK, to National Grid Transco plc for $2.035 billion in cash. National Grid Transco plc was renamed as National Grid plc in July 2005, while Crown Castle UK was renamed National Grid Wireless in October 2005.

On January 12, 2007, Crown Castle completed the acquisition of Global Signal Inc., a rival U.S. tower operator which was based in Sarasota, FL[1].

Crown Castle Australia Limited (CCAL) is a subsidiary in Australia that provides broadcasting services and broadcast locations across Australia. CCAL is headquartered in Chatswood, a northern suburb of Sydney. The company provides broadcast locations for mobile phone operators, telecommunications companies, and television and radio broadcasters. Notable customers in the Australian market include Singtel Optus, Vodafone and Telstra.

On 9 March, 2000, CCAL announced that its subsidiary - Crown Castle Australia - had signed an agreement to purchase over 700 mobile phone towers from Optus.

On 21 December, 2000, CCAL added that it would purchase approximately 669 wireless communication towers from Vodafone and completed the deal in April of 2001.

In Mar - April 2007, CCAL completed it's third largest portfolio acquisition by acquiring 49 towers from Hutchison Australia.
