Crosstown traffic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crosstown traffic refers primarily to vehicular traffic between Manhattan's East Side and Manhattan's West Side, the two areas being largely discontiguous due to Central Park. The crosstown trip is notoriously frustrating for drivers because of heavy congestion on narrow local roads, the barrier posed by the Park itself, and the absence of express roads other than the Cross Bronx Expressway at the north end of Manhattan Island.
Secondary uses of the term are as follows:
- "Crosstown Traffic" (song), a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience from their 1968 album Electric Ladyland
- Crosstown Traffic, a television show starring Aries Spears
- Crosstown Traffic: Jimi Hendrix and Post-War Pop, a biography by Charles Shaar Murray
