Crossover DX was a long-running cult dōjinshi manga. It crossed over Pokemon, Digimon and Monster Rancher with original characters & concepts, eventually gaining a large and byzantine continuity. It ran to three series - the original, DX 02, and DX03 - though 02 remains unfinished and 03 only brought out one volume.

The original started off with a small cast: lead heroes Ash Ketchum, Tai and Genki were brought together (along with one ally each) to rescue their respective female counterparts (Misty, Sora and Holly) from an original villain named Gar'En, who intended to use one of them as a new body. The plot abruptly diverged with the introducting of demon-halfbreed and Digidestined Yusuke, and eventually involved a multiversal war against an alliance of villains.

The sequel series began along the same lines, before the creators decided to have the Digimon Kaizer create a tournament as a way of moving the plot forward. This was a story met with contraversy for its large amounts of character death (often arbitrary). Immediately after, 02 went into a war story where Digimon villain Daemon invaded Kanto & Johto. 03, a side-series, was mainly a Digimon Tamers story.

Crossover DX ended due to a gradual and bitter falling-out among the four creators. While it was announced the series would continue with just one, this did not occur.
