Crossbank

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crossbank is a settled locality in Greater Manchester, England, though before 1894, it was a hamlet of the parish of Ashton-under-Lyne, and in the Oldham Parliamentary Borough in the administrative county of Lancashire.

The name Crossbank is thought by some to derive from the days of the knights templar when a cross was etched into an earthen bank to denote lands granted to them.[1]

Crossbank was merged into the Lees Urban District.

It today stretches across the Waterhead area of Oldham as well as part of the village of Lees in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham.
