Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion/Templates (articles)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Note: New versions of the templates based on this discussion have already been implemented, on 24 March 2008. |
Reasons for changing speedy-delete template wording:
- Correspond more closely with the criteria for speedy deletion (CSD)
- Brevity/clarity
- Avoid using italics in a way that might imply a direct quote of the CSD
- Often saying "(See CSDXX)" rather than just "(CSDXX)" to avoid implying a direct quote
Implementation:
- To delete "The reason given is:", for brevity, transclude new template Template:speedybase instead of Template:db-meta.

I'm not so sure Template:Db-A7 needs to be directed to Db-bio. Bio implies relation to a single person as in a biography.. but the text of Db-A7 and Db-bio both also say "web content and organization", which aren't biographies. Db-A7 used to direct to Db-bio but back in December, after discussion, the consensus was that it be made into a generic WP:CSD#A7 template directly because of WP:CSD#A7 stating not just people but web content and organizations as well. For that discussion, see Template talk:Db-bio#Sanity check - ✰ALLSTAR✰ echo 21:31, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback. In response to your comment, I've placed a notice on the Twinkle talk page about these discussions, and I've moved the suggested wording above from db-bio to db-a7, and written a new, more specific wording for db-bio, i.e. about people only. --Coppertwig (talk) 22:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm also concerned about
{{Db-band}}
,{{Db-inc}}
,{{Db-web}}
since they are obviously covered under the same Db-bio template.. that is they are a template that turns around and uses db-bio as the template. All of these templates have always confuzzled me. lol - ✰ALLSTAR✰ echo 22:21, 9 February 2008 (UTC)- I see. I will think about these. --Coppertwig (talk) 03:08, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
