Velox: Critical Approaches to Contemporary Film is an online academic journal which publishes articles about film and other current media. The word velox (pronounced WAY-locks) comes from Latin meaning "swift" or "rapid" and refers to the journal's emphasis on publishing high quality scholarship within a relatively short time after a film's release.

"Velox delivers critical approaches to contemporary films. As an independent, peer reviewed, scholarly journal, it pushes beyond the limitations of technical analysis or popular response and provides theoretically informed considerations of the most current films in all genres. Velox is committed to facilitating the rapid distribution of substantive academic analysis and fostering critical discourse from a variety of fields and perspectives."[1]
