[edit] Proposed move for Charlie Perry
Hi, I'm proposing to move Charlie Perry to Charlie Perry (Australian rules footballer), as I'm about to create Charlie Perry (English footballer). Just thought I'd let you know in case you had any objections. I promise to fix any links. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 16:15, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Champion of the Colony
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Champion of the Colony, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 10:59, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Quick editing
Are you using a bot process to add all those stub tags to articles? — Werdna talk 06:41, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Right, 4 edits/min is slow enough to be manual. I'm just trying out a little monitor bot for looking for people running unapproved bots, and you seemed to be fast enough to trip it, good work :-P. Take care, — Werdna talk 06:47, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Paul Riley.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Paul Riley.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Peter May
Hi. I came across a move from Peter May to Peter May (cricketer) via my watchlist and I see you have altered a few articles that refer to Peter May to reflect this move. I think the move is out of order and have raised an issue about it on WT:CRIC. If it is reversed, as I have recommended, it will mean your edits being reversed also. Please see the topic on WT:CRIC. All the best. --BlackJack | talk page 20:01, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Help with bulk changes
I noticed you've been changing a few titles from Senior to , Sr. etc. Have you considered getting WP:AWB which is very useful to make lots of repetitive changes. Keep up the good work. The-Pope (talk) 23:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Roy Cazaly/Laurie Nash Career Highlights
Hi there. I copied and pasted the AFL templete from Cazaly and Nash and was in the middle of replacing Cazaly's career highlights with Nash's when I got an edit conflict. My internet connection is never good which leads me to save more often the ordinary editor. --Roisterer (talk) 07:30, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
No worries, I figured something like that had happened. Crickettragic (talk) 07:32, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Attention,
I added at the IP's talk page that it is a school's shared IP address. We try very much to minimize the vandalism from this address, and we would be glad if you would consider that it's a school and not block the address, for there are people who want to edit it. [edit] Aussie Rules Team Template
Thanks for the good work. There is such an effort being currently made to retrospectively embellish AL/VFL history (such as, for example a St Kilda best and fairest player in 1923 being represented as having won the "Trevor Barker Medal" and, as well, statements to the effect that the "Trevor Barker Medal" has been awarded annually since 1914) that, it seems, soon there will be no people who understand the differences between a 19th man, and then later a 19th man and a 20th man and an "interchange player". Thank you so much for using your expertise so that it is made abundantly clear that, as they say, "that was then and this is now". Best to you. Lindsay658 (talk) 23:15, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Season infobox
A great innovation! Lindsay658 (talk) 05:26, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
In response to your question about whether I think that anything should be added to your design of the "Season Infobox", I delayed my answer so that I could have another look at what you've done this morning — and, also, have time to reflect upon what might be important for the skimming reader to know at a glance about the entire season.
(1) In relation to the sort of summary that your infobox presents, and in relation to a relevant piece of information that is missing, I do not think that any reference should be made to the manner in which the premiership was decided (ARGUS System, Page-McIntyre, etc.); simply because, in my view, it is information that is of far too great a complexity for those who would have no desire to look further down the page.
(2) I suggest that you amend the label "Premiers" so that it reads "Premiership Team".
I suggest this because embedded within the title "Premiership Team" is the fact that, in those days, the team so designated may or may not have played in what is now known as a "Grand Final"; and the designation "Premiers" (on its own)might lead the naive reader to imagine that there was a compulsory "Grand Final".
(3) Given (2), in my view, your designation "Minor premiers" is fine, and should not be changed.
(4) It seems that the only relevant (i.e., of some significant importance) information that is missing is the length of the pre-finals season. (Although I have no information presently at my fingertips, I recall that there was at least one season when an unusual number of games were played; and this would certainly draw attention to that fact.)
Given that you already have a heading "Champion of the Season" — and, I suppose, if you go back earlier in time it would then read "Champion of the Colony" — it would seem important (for your formatting) that this new label is no longer than "Champion of the Season", currently your longest label. So, I suggest that:
- (a) you insert this new category immediately below the "Clubs" category;
- (b) that of you call it "Home-and-Away Season"; and
- (c) [having thought about it for some time], that the entry in that category would read, for example, the unambiguous "18 rounds" — rather than, that is, the sometimes confusing "18 matches", or "18 games", or just "18".
I hope that helps your valuable work. In haste, Lindsay658 (talk) 00:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- I think that it looks really good; and, what's more, it gives a brief snapshot of the most important features of the specific season in question. BTW, I have accumulated some more information that supports the "Champion of the Colony/Season"; once I have some time, and once I get the last bit that I require, I will adjust the article.Lindsay658 (talk) 23:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] could you please do me a favor?
Hello,
I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?
- I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
- I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.
The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.
Sincerely
