'A' cricket teams

Apologies for taking so long to respond; lots of off-wiki things going on at the moment. Anyway, you may be disappointed to hear that yes, I did do the tour-by-tour stats the hard way, trawling through every relevant match on CricketArchive! Loganberry (Talk) 03:56, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Great work

Noticed you been doing of work on Adelaide cricket/football teams. Good stuff :-) Muzzamo 02:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 22 July 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Peter Denning (cricketer), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Frank Watson (cricketer)

Since I was the one who originally requested the article, I felt that I should thank you for writing it. Nice work. :) JH (talk page) 20:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Infobox problems

I have replied to the Help desk but thought i would reply here as well. Right, i have now fixed the problem. Someone had moved the page and cleaned up the template without amending the documentation. The correct documentation can be found at Template:Infobox cricket tournament main/doc and the template is called Template:Infobox cricket tournament main now. Put simply, all the parameters were renamed and so none of the old parameters would have worked. By the By, you should be using Template:Infobox cricket tournament anyway as it is for a specific event if i am not mistaken. I have now used that on World Cricket Classic. Hope that helps. Uhhh

You might like to look at [1]. The tagging editor did not warn you. (My opinion is that this is clear cut, and the article should never have been nom'ed for Speedy) Phgao 06:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I just nominated it because there is very little information and the information does not assert the significance of the player in question. --Μ79_Šp€çíá∫횆tell me about it 06:56, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I stated in the introduction which club he played for and in which league he played for. How does that not assert the significance of the player when the notablilty guidelines for sportsmen clearly state that a person is notable if they played in a professional league? Crickettragic 07:01, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think you have the upper hand in this argument. I guess an admin will have to decide ultimately. I still stand my groud although policy has your back. --Μ79_Šp€çíá∫횆tell me about it 07:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I believe that when you tag speedies you must inform the original creator as it allows concerns to be aired. Phgao 07:09, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
I see you're at it again :) Phgao 12:16, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much for sending me article that mentions Steve Knight article

I was just about to log off and go to sleep, but you made my Knight (LOL). --Hokeman 04:17, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Dwayne Leverock

Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but you can limit the amount of columns, or use different headings, using the new infobox. I'm not sure what the point is in having a Tests column for a player who has never played Tests. Why not use his ICC Trophy stats instead? Andrew nixon 12:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:RossSmithStKilda.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:RossSmithStKilda.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Newtown Jets Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Newtown Jets Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Gokul Inder Dev

A tag has been placed on Gokul Inder Dev requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AFL Player Templates

Sorry, I'm looking at improving the AFL template to be more presentable and complete with information (ala soccer, basketball templates). There was some information in the previous template that was rather useless (ie debut stadium, and debut information) since it overlapped with other points. Changing the current player info to meet this template I'm editing shouldn't be too hard (as far as transferring information goes).

I've re-done the Jim Adamson info box as an example - took 5 secs to transfer the information.

Boomtish (talk) 09:50, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

  • To be honest, I think the whole process of WikiProject AFL is/will be a pain to continually edit. But really, I'd like to think we're trying to make all AFL-related articles the best as possible, and I strongly believe this is one step in that direction (particularly looking at soccer, american basketball etc articles, which are miles ahead at the moment). We're still in relatively early stages as far as player articles are concerned, so better now than never, I suppose.Boomtish (talk) 10:00, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
    • No problem. Thanks for the advice.

Notability of Saeed Bin Nasir

A tag has been placed on Saeed Bin Nasir requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mbisanz (talk) 10:33, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

ah hahahaha Classic! I have tried to ask the same question of Timeshift (albeit not even close to half as funny) with immediate deletes - see his talk page history. Also this might be of interest: User talk:ROxBo#Regarding Timeshift... - some other bits of this conversation are on User:Sarah's page. Keep up the good work!! Honestly, it's best to avoid his talk page. Problems with him should be directed to admins, avoid all direct contact. But be careful which admins you approach.

AfD nomination of Ruwin Peiris

I have nominated Ruwin Peiris, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruwin Peiris. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
