Talk:Criticisms of the institution of marriage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
No mention of the legal aspect of marriage - that some might say that a person's personal relationships are none of the governments business, or that the law should not discriminate between the married and the single etc. (rights and benefits of marriage et al)
Brides toss their bouquets towards a group of single women, who compete to catch the bouquet; the woman who catches the bouquet is believed to have the good fortune to be the next woman to get married. I've removed this, this is in no way whatsoever a "criticism of the institution of marriage" Jayteecork 22:31, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Why is there no mention of a typical anarchist opposition to marriage for being state- and church-sponsored? I think it's very relevant.Ohjeeztower 02:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Why dont you write one ?!? 87.112.13.252 07:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
"Marriage as Legal Prostitution" I'm removing this section, as the only "source" is what an Iranian prostitute yelled at a married woman in a documentary. I don't object to the content (I've heard this criticism before), but it sounds highly un-encyclopedic in this context. Please consider adding this section in the future, with an encyclopedic source, not just "somebody once said..." 76.103.213.78 (talk) 00:39, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
