[edit] Additions

I went ahead and added Takeharu Ishimoto as music compose. Although it hasn't been officially confirmed just yet, I'd say there's about a 99% chance that he'll be doing it. He's already done both Before Crisis -FFVII-, Last Order -FFVII-, two additional works for the Before Crisis trailers, and the music in the Crisis Core trailers (yes, there are actually multiple versions, one is slightly extended with longer music). WtW-Suzaku 08:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Added in the newly revealed characters (should I put Angeal even though the seiyuu isn't known?), as well as the official crew, as listed on the official site. WtW-Suzaku 13:15, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Changed the information on Genesis. There is no need to add speculation about his appearance in Dirge of Cerberus when, during this game, he's a mysterious character who has yet to show any signs of the Dirge of Cerberus incidents. WtW-Suzaku 14:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and edited Shisune's name today as the official Japanese site is currently romanising her name as Cissnei, and not Shisune as we've all "fan-romanised". I just thought I'd type this up as people are bound to contest the decision, but I felt the official name should be followed until further notice. TonyKM 19:28, August 28, 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Console Version?

I know not much info has been released about it yet, but have any of you heard any thing about a console release? -- Parad0x 16:58, 29 January 2007

Plenty of info has been released (a great deal more than is available in the article), and Nomura has stated several times that there will absolutely not be a console version. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.120.3.73 (talk) 09:33, 1 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Moved titles from hyphons to colons for subtitles

For the following reasons:

  • The use of hyphons, dashes, tildes, etc. is a non-standard English practice of handling subtitles. It is a Japanese practice. This is the English Wikipedia, and MOS states to follow common English grammar. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks): "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules even if the trademark owner encourages special treatment".
  • The above phrase of "even if the trademark owner encourages special treatment" invalidates whatever Square "officially" uses since it's not normal.
  • Pretty much everyone who's not an otaku fanboy (not that's anything wrong with that) uses colons for these titles. IGN is just one example, but there's plenty where that came from.
  • Here's the kicker: there's not even any hyphon/dashes in the logos. Since it's not even replicating that, it makes it pure Japanese-English.

I am quite confident that my moves support Wiki guidelines, and I also know that at least one other user supports such moves (User:Kariteh) but I suggest that anyone who feels strongly enough otherwise to strike up a survey and we can debate it. --SeizureDog 16:00, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Logo

Do you think it should be added that the CC logo is the only logo that has not got a background image designed by Yoshitaka Amano? (It's just a section of sky) Choogle 11:35, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

No. 1 - 2 - 3 - Kariteh 10:01, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

OK, I slipped up there. What I actually meant was that there isn't really any noticeable background image at all. It is a significant difference from other titles in the series, and I think it should get just a small mention at least. Choogle 11:35, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The background image is significant. It's of the sky. It seems to be directly related to Aerith's comment about the heavenless skies of Midgar, and Zack's eyes being blue like the sky, and so on. WtW-Suzaku 14:17, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:PSP Finalfantasy bundle.jpg

Image:PSP Finalfantasy bundle.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Critical Response

Famitsu just gave their review of Crisis Core. Here's the score.

http://videogamerx.gamedonga.co.kr/bbs/view.php?id=usernews&no=16741

So I'm sure now a "Critical Response" section can be added to the article with the appropriate scores.66.76.60.163 04:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

[edit] A pretty epic release date and sales

http://gemaga.sbcr.jp/

http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1210461_1124.html

Two articles/links show the phenomenal popularity of the game and how successful it's first day of release was. Famitsu especially. I'm sure this can be added to critical reception and fits in showing said game's notability.66.76.60.163 05:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

Here are some more websites that have some info in regards to the sales and reception of Crisis Core

http://psp.ign.com/articles/819/819814p1.html

Crisis Core is also the top selling game on amazon.co.jp according to http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=15498

And here's the citation of Crisis Core selling 350,000 units on the first day.

http://www.jeux-france.com/news21814_crisis-core-ffvii-en-rupture-de-stock-.html

A pretty reliable source.

So hopefully a nice "Critical Reception" section can be done now.66.76.60.163 22:43, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

Now Crisis Core has sold over 500,000 units.

http://mantanweb.mainichi.co.jp/web/2007/09/mdccff750psp.html

and

http://ff7ac.hotcafe.to/

Definitely is a lot of info for Critical Reception now. ^_~ 66.76.60.163 00:32, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

http://www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm

Here's one more source stating how many units have been sold between Sept 10 through the 16th.66.76.60.163 19:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

....Okay is anyone going to edit and add in the extra info in regards to its sales and reception on its release? I mean here's the info right here...66.76.60.163 10:14, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Makoeyes987

[edit] Revisions

Obviously some fan-boy (No offense to whoever you are. ) has editted the site quite a bit and I feel that it should be taken care of. I'd do it myself but I'm honestly not sure how. I undid one revision but there appears to be quite a few and I don't want to mess anything up. Sorry I couldn't be more help. =) Peregrine 23:38, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, almost a week and this crap is still here? Wikipedia's gettin' sloppy. --Notorious MOG 03:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
The Zack Fair page contains little gems like "Zack than found out he is a an Angeal copy". Could someone please clean that up? It was literally hurts trying to read it. Zerocannon 04:04, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I reverted it back to the last reasonable looking version I could find. I am not sure if it is up-to-date, but it is better than having a character section that sloppily explains the half of the storyline. Sorry for any trouble. Peregrine 15:27, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Though I didn't really check, I think the new revision done by LePeregrine is much better than the last possibly illegible article. The article shouldn't be a substitute to playing the game itself. No offense meant to those who can't afford the game, but really, we're trying to make an encyclopedia here? — Blue 19:57, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I think the Plot Overview may be a little long and more detailed than necessary if you'd like to take a look, I do not wish to overstep my bounds, but if you agree by all means do as you please. Peregrine 01:22, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Whoever you are, if you'd like to discuss why your edits are being deleted you can discuss it here, not in the article itself. Thankyou. Peregrine 15:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

We obviously need an admin to handle this... Here we go again. Peregrine 15:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

My apologies for revising and editing the page many times. I just feel like posting the truth is all. Also I didn't notice this page existed so I would've posted here a long time ago. If you feel like revising my page, then be my guest just don't delete them. Also the Zack Fair page looks great now so no arguing there. I won't be posting anymore so there. I bid you ado P.S. just try at least to post more info on the story section. It lacks a lot of important info. -From the so called "fan-boy" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.182.134.209 (talk) 20:04, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I understand where you are coming from but neither the format nor the content is appropriate for an encyclopedic article. I appreciate your efforts to add content to this page, and it is very informative but just not appropriate for wikipedia. Anyway, if you want to talk about the game, or what is or is not appropriate for the article feel free to talk to me on my talk page, or review the wikipedia guidelines (although I admit it isn't the most exciting group of literature to read.) Later, fan-boy. =P Peregrine 20:44, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I tried to correct certain parts of the story which are incorrect, but the changes were then reverted. For example, the article states that Zack is also shot and killed by the Turks, which is not true. Having played the game I can tell you that only Shinra soldiers are involved in Zacks death.Slave2Placebo 13:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

This is a completely unrelated note, well for the most part, but I edited one phrase a while back and I thought I'd just mention my reasoning here in case anyone wonders why. In Lazard's section it used to say that it was revealed that he was an Angeal clone, or with similar enough wording that from reading it one would assume that he'd always been one. This isn't the case, since Angeal's genes were only placed in him after he left Shinra with Hollander. It now says he was altered into one instead (as was the case with most of the clones - they weren't so much made from scratch clones as previously existing people/creatures given the cells of Genesis or Angeal). Not a huge deal, but just in case anyone was wondering... Laverinth (talk) 18:20, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

Let me give some pointers on the article's cleanup based on the experience of the WikiProject:FF. This represents the general idea of a WP:FF good article:

  • Gameplay section covers all technical aspects of the gameplay. References are encouraged from published gaming media sources or websites such as IGN and GameSpot as stipulated in WikiProject:Video Game
  • Plot section is divided into three sections: Setting, Character and Story. Must be properly cited. Information that would only be beneficial to gamers are discouraged - such as monster HP or battle strategy - Wikipedia is not a gaming website.
  • Character section needs to be written in prose and not a list as lists are discouraged based upon Wikipedia guidelines. Character development may also be inserted and cited with proper references. Expanding character profile is good, but not so much as it is filled with fan fiction and redundant information.
  • Story section may write about the entire story, but only the main storyline. Sidequests story only bloat the section with trivial information. Proper citation such as in-game dialog and tutorials are encouraged.
  • Voice cast section constitutes somewhat a trivia. The WP:FF project discourages such sections as it disrupts the standardization of the article. Note that the voiced main series articles do not contain a voice cast section.

Hope this helps the editors concerned. — Blue 19:24, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey I don't know where to put this so someone do it for me.

Project G Originally it was thought that G standed for Genesis but it really stands for Gillian aka Angeal's mother. Project Gillian was a cell injection of an Ancient's cell into a fetus where the cells (stem cells or blank cells) copied on to it. However the boy was normal meaning it was a failure until later on its effects began. Genesis was meant to be the only candidate of project G but there was another, Angeal. At that time Angeal and Genesis both have G cells and as a trait they both had wings but on different sides. Genesis had a left black wing and Angeal had a right white wing. They both had G cells but Genesis began to go through degradation as a major side affect from project G when he was around his adulthood. Also note that G cells made a human near superhuman though not perfect as Sephiroth's condition (S cells or Jenova Cells inside of Sephiroth). As a result the only means to stop degradation was to apply Jenova cells onto the speciman and become stabalized.

This is all we know for now about Project G. so someone please post this at the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.99.222.223 (talk) 20:41, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] This needs spoiler alerts

They are minor spoilers, but its needed. 71.185.214.170 22:07, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

No they're not. What were you thinking when you read the section labeled "Plot"? "I'll somehow learn about the plot without finding out spoilers which are the key parts of the plot"? Here we consider spoiler tags on a Plot section kind of insulting to the concept of common sense. There's going to be plot details in a Plot section.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 22:51, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
There are many spoilers in CHARACTERS SECTION. And Genesis is not a new character, he is a returning character. EDIT: Spoilers in characters here please --> Characters of Final Fantasy VII --Sinh 00:55, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

There is more story in characters section that in story section. Absurd ¬¬

[edit] Story Overview

For some reason I can't edit this...? I think it should be heavily edited. Also, at the bottom it says you need to play through CC twice to get the secret ending, which is not true, as I got it on my first playthrough. 84.134.201.47 22:49, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The plot section is now enormously long and far more detailed than is useful. Perhaps it could be reduced and a link added to a plot summary or game script FAQ in the External Links section for anybody who really wants that much detail? SRBA --87.113.66.254 (talk) 06:59, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Voice Cast section

According to a discussion made in the process of making Final Fantasy X a Featured Article, one editor voiced out that the voice cast section:

...was a rather long section that just listed a bunch of names. As such, it pretty much fell into the category of trivia and the unloved category of being a list...

That being the case, they took the more appropriate measure of adding an IMDb link. Perhaps the same can be done here. Without objections, it will be done. — Blue 02:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] U.S. Release?

Yeah, it's March, I just pre-ordered it from a local GameStop, and I don't think they'd start taking pre-orders unless they were sure about the game's release date. –Nahald (talk) 20:28, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

i thought CC would be released on march 8th 2008. which is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.199.196.226 (talk) 19:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Character list accurate?

I realize that I know nothing of this game, seeing as it is only in Japan at the moment and I do not own a PSP... but it seems absurd to me that Yuffie would be in this game! She'd be what, like 10, maybe 12 years old? Feel free to shoot me down here. Nekopan 06:35, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Yuffie makes an appearance, as stated in this link here. She would be 9, I think. — Blue 08:21, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
How the h*** does Yuffie make an apearence? I don't remember Cloud having any previous acquaintances with her in the original FFVII... please correct me if i'm wrong —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.118.214.143 (talk) 04:44, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, except Cloud isn't the main character in this game. –Nahald (talk) 20:28, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Screenshots

I think the screenshots should really be changed since they seem to be of an early verion of crisis core and do not reflect the version that has been released --Bodachi (talk) 23:06, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Supporting characters

Just because you can use Minerva to get as many downs as you want, doesnt make it a supporting character... I was honeslty surprised to see this there —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.149.51.66 (talk) 13:11, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

It/She appears, so Minerva is still a character. I think supporting character is a little bit of a stretch, but she could still fall into the category. Would it be better if it was changed to "Other Characters"? That's not much of a stretch, considering she's still a character.WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 13:53, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Minerva doesn't appear during the storyline, so she's not a supporting character. Nor should she be an 'other character'. She's mearly a mob. Kaelesh (talk) 15:46, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Minerva is an optional boss, but I dont think that qualifies her as a supporting character. Ditch88 (talk) 02:56, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

There IS a goddess in the game, or at least I'd suppose (spoiler, though I doubt I'd need to warn anyone) that the thing Genesis walks up to after you finish him off properly is the "goddess" he goes on about. But although Minerva looks similar, there are enough differences between the two that you can clearly tell them appart. I'd be perfectly happy to include the Goddess as a supporting character as dispite it's single appearance it does play a fair roll in the game (a driving force?) but an "optional boss" is something else completely, expecially since defeating Minerva pretty much cancels out any real storyline (if you're that strong, the story doesnt quite fit at ALL). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.149.96.7 (talk) 04:15, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you clarify what you mean? 134.121.250.173 (talk) 19:08, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Genesis is a 'little' obsessed with the goddess. She's one of the driving forces. Minerva is extremely strong, and if Zack were to actually beat her it'd be incredibly unrealistic when looking at what he lost against. There's another Goddess in the storyline, whether it's Minerva with a few changes or different completely, that Genesis encounters eventually. That Goddess could be included because it's in the storyline. Minerva still might be able to be in the character setion, though. Remember the secret ending of DoC? "G"? He's still considered a character, even if it's the secret ending and really had nothing to do with the main storyline.WhiteArcticWolf (talk) 02:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty certain it was confirmed that Minerva is the same Goddess that Genesis keeps talking about, as well as the Goddess of the planet and... the incarnation of the Lifestream itself or something like that (or maybe not, I can't remember, but she's still the biggest Goddess of the planet) and yes, she's the one Zack beats in the final mission. Just because Zack beats her as an optional boss doesn't make that detail canon, it's the reason she's optional to begin with and not part of the storyline. 81.80.239.162 (talk) 09:19, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Genesis Rhapsodos?

What's the source stating that Genesis Rhapsodos is Genesis's full name? I haven't played much of this particular Final Fantasy VII game, so I don't know if it's said in-game, but seeing as how the Japanese Wikipedia article simply lists his name as Genesis, I'm doubting that last name is legitimate. Chibi Gohan (talk) 22:09, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Angeal and Genesis are given last names after the mission in Banora, through a mail sent to Zack when they are reported as dead. "Angeal Hewley"/"Genesis Rhapsodos" - SOLDIER 1st Class: Killed in action —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.149.96.7 (talk) 00:33, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Plot

I agree that is needed serious editing as it was way to long, but the way it is now is almost as horrible, all it states now is how the game starts off. If the page is going to have a plot section, it needs to (briefly) overview the plot, not just state the beginning of the game. When I have time I'd be happy to do so, but thought I'd point out that the plot section needs massive work. Ditch88 (talk) 19:39, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

True, before it was very long and detailed, but right now it seems as if I can learn this much of the plot just by reading the back of the cover. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.139.192.253 (talk) 00:21, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I have the time to update the plot. I'll be using the one stated on the offical site for Crisis Core. The best reference possible. Danamic Studios (talk) 02:00, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Firmware requirements?

What firmware version is required to run the game? --76.215.139.218 (talk) 15:17, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
