- 1921 - Charlie Macartney scores 345 runs in four hours as the Australians total 608 for seven on the first day of the match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. The score remained for 73 years as the highest number of runs hit by a cricketer in one day – it was beaten by Brian Lara's 380 runs on his way to the highest first-class score of 501 not out.
