[edit] Plot summary
In this episode, Detectives Goren and Eames investigate the death of an elderly and paranoid banker in his 90th floor penthouse suite after an arsonist sets his building ablaze.
The investigation leads Goren and Eames to the victim's dysfunctional family. Short after, the arsonist is found dead. Then, they focus their attention on the victim's young trophy wife and his incompetent and troubled son, both of whom had multiple reasons to want the eccentric older man dead. They also interview a private caretaker, who could be a key clue in tracing the connection between the suspects.
As Goren and Eames begin to stitch together the pieces, they find a vital evidence in a bank vault that results in a final conclusion.

What's in a name
The episode title, "The Enemy Within", is in reference to the paranoia of the episode's first victim, who sought to protect himself from enemies outside of his hotel. Ironically, everyone who played a part in his demise lived or worked within the hotel. Even more ironically, had the victim not taken the extreme precautions he had, he would have survived. He was, in a way, his own enemy.
[edit] Quotes
Goren: It's brilliant! Between us, it's the perfect crime.
Eames: If I were in this family, I'd probably drink too.
Goren: The facts are up for grabs, counselor.
Eames: You know how nothing inspires confidence like cops filing in and out of a brokers office.
Kit Sternman: Harry and I had a very healthy sex life.
Goren: Hmm... arthritic, diabetic 68-year-old Harry with the bad... ticker?
Eames: Firebug, firebug fly away home...
Goren: What do you feel comfortable telling us?
Rick Zainer: Nothing. But that's not an option, is it?
Goren: It's good you have a sense of humor about it.
Eames: The only way Edward can sell that building is if the old man cleared out.
Deakins: So he burned him out. I'll have to remember this the next time my mother-in-law comes for a visit.
