The Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS) were inaugurated in May 2003, and are adjudicated by a panel of all the regular Scottish theatre critics.

The 2008 ceremony takes place at Glasgow's Oran Mor [1] on June 15th during the West End Festival.

In 2007 the National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) production of Black Watch, written by Gregory Burke, about the history of the famous Scottish regiment and its notorious deployment at Camp Dogwood in Iraq, won four of the ten awards, including Best Production.

The awards for 2006-2007 were presented at Pitlochry Festival Theatre [2] on June 10th.
