During the late Communist times, the Childrens home in the town became the second largest in Romania. The children there were bullied by each other and the building began to collapse from the hardships it had to endure each day. In 1989, one teacher Tim Poole from Sunbury Manor School started to help the town get back on its feet. He gave the town assistance to reover from the hardships they faced in Communist times. 1990, he began taking students from the 10th and 11th years out with him for a week per year to show these students the town and life out there. The teacher got an M.B.E for his work in March 2008.
