[edit] Episode recap

Jon takes Garfield and Odie for a picnic by the lake. Garfield goes into the cooler and pulls out the picnic basket only to discover that Jon had placed a padlock on it. Jon then warns Garfield not to touch the basket before he and Odie run off to play catch.

Garfield prepares to unlock the basket anyway until he imagines that his punishment would be a sentence to eat raisins for the rest of his life. He then decided to take a nap, and while he does, a gnome pops out of a tree hole and takes the picnic basket. Garfield wakes up and notices this; then he goes into the hole himself and soon discovers a hidden civilization under the park.

Garfield becomes hungry, so he searches the garbage cans for food. A gnome then gives him a handful of dollar bills; then he goes to a restaurant and orders some food. The waiter informs him that customers cannot bring their own food and he throws Garfield out (literally), where he lands right where the gnome that stole the picnic basket is coming out of the bank. Garfield confronts him and demands the basket, to which the gnome replies that he deposited it. Another gnome then approaches them and then asks for change for a cannelloni, and then Garfield realizes that Italian food is used as currency in the civilization, and money is used as actual food.

Garfield and the gnome go into the bank and Garfield soon finds the picnic basket. Garfield takes a piece of lasagna out of the basket and eats it before he remembers that the basket had been deposited; then he runs out the bank with the basket as several angry gnomes pursue him. He then distracts by throwing the last piece of lasagna in their path before running out of the civilization and back to the park.

Jon and Odie come back then, and Jon asks where the food is; Garfield decides that he wouldn’t believe the real story. Jon then questions what they are supposed to eat, and Garfield presents the dollar bills. Jon is pleased until Garfield instructs everyone to eat the bills.

[edit] Notes

  • When Garfield scans through his tool collection, he mentions sandpaper even though there is no sandpaper visible.
