Cricket frogs (genus Acris) are frogs in the Hylidae family, and are found in the United States, Canada and Mexico. They are highly variable in color and pattern, and are part of the the genus Pseudacris. The typical habitat for both species of Cricket Frog are bodies of shallow water, with good cover in the form of vegetation. They are named for their mating calls, which resemble the noise of a cricket.
