Cuba as a country has a very low crime rate compared to other 3rd world counties. Through tuff laws and strict rules of how society is in Cuba. Cuba has been known to the United States as a very unsafe place. Due to its history of disagreements and rumoured embargos, Cuba is actually a country that would be nice to visit (Brianna De La Torre of Cubas Tourisim Society). Crime in Cuba? Not much. Being there first hand I was able to talk to locals like it was on the streets of Miami. Without worry of the police to arrest me or others. Cubans in general understand that they are all there (on the island) together. They are of a warm nature and love the entertainment of friends and family. Play a song on the radio and you get a group of people dancing instantly. Drugs and prostitution are at a very low rate due to the punishment alone.

A tourist from the U.S. was cuaght with 1 Joint (Weed) and was givin the sentance of 20 years in jail. So, I ask any one who is thinking of doing the same, is it really worth 20 years of jail time? Cuba Deffense Minister Kathryn Schalk states that although Cuba has had its share of crime, they do not have anything near its neighbor 90 miles north of Havana. I had a chance to speak to one of Cuba's notorious criminals, Yasoon Begley of Santa Clara, Cuba. His crime range from stealing from locals to raping a horse. His views on crime in Cuba is that he stands alone. Yasoon is still serving his 3rd 10 year sentence.
