Template talk:Creation-evolution table

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • gradual appearance: science and ID agree, fundamentalist creationsts oppose
  • cause of new forms: science says mutation, etc.; ID posits an unspecified "intelligent agent"; Creationists say God
  • "guidance" (see unguided evolution): science makes reference to natural selection; ID says intelligent agent; Creationism says God

(pretty much same as above)

  • "God caused new forms to appear": science usually chooses not to address the question, but some evolutionary materialists explicitly say No!; ID implies a yes, some forms of theistic evolution say yes explicitly; Roman Catholicism joins fundamentalist Creationists to say yes

Evolutionary materialism is a view expressed/held by Carl Sagan (world-famous scientists but not a biologist), Richard Dawkins, and the 38 Nobel-prize winning scientists in the fields of medicine, physics & chemistry who made a joint statement with holocuast survivor and humanist Elie Wiezel.

I.D. implies that the intelligent cause is God, without explicitly saying so. Surely this is a strategic omission. One can only suppose their argument runs like this:

  1. some intelligent force must have been involved in evolution
  2. maybe it's God!

These are rough notes I'd like to use to create some tables which can help us Wikipedia contributors clarify articles which relate to the U.S. creation-evolution controversy. Uncle Ed 15:48, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
