WikiProject Biography Assessment

[edit] Discussion

Someone made a change to the article that was not only factually incorrect but also contradictory. It said that the album was "not officially released" and that "consequently sales were low"; an album that was not released couldn't have any sales at ALL, what with it being...not...released...I have altered the text to be both factually accurate and sensical.

[edit] Was the song broadcasted in Australia?

Before I read the Article it stated "in Austria and Europe". Since Austria is in Europe, it obviously should say "Australia". I corrected this, but don't know if the song really was broadcasted there. If you know for sure it wasn't, please correct the Article. Thanks.

Your assumption is off the mark. What it SHOULD say is "in Europe, with a separate release for Austria". Midnightguinea 00:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Street Fairie Fate?

"In 1999 Summer released the solo album Street Faerie produced by and featuring guest artist (and friend) Lenny Kravitz, the album was not hugely successful. Summer toured as Kravitz's opening act, but her label dropped her and a planned spot with Lillith Fair was cancelled. The label continued to promote it, however, sending out a four track sampler to radio and issuing remix singles of the track "Revelation Sunshine" in Australia and Europe."

Actually Cree was dropped by the label as part of a buy out and although the CD was released the label had already lost interest even before the launch and so all marketing which was done actually was laid in before launch. (Another artist on the label told me that Cree's CD missed getting cut altogether by just a few days.) While I don't have time to find all the actual dates you can be assured that the paragraph above is both wrong and misleading. Someone who has the contacts and or time should fix this. Perhaps I'll come back at some point but I'm listening to the CD right now and thought I'd stop by to see what the Wiki has to say about Cree.

[edit] Video

She also had a special guest apperance in a music video. The artist was Jamal Ski.

[edit] Credits need cleanup or editing

The sections describing her voice-over roles are getting messy and disjointed. Some lines mentioning 'more recent' appearances refer to performances older than the ones just referenced. Each person (self included) adds a line or two about the role s/he considers more notable, without a cohesive presentation. Lawikitejana 05:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cree Summer is NOT Canadian

She was born in the United States and as far as I am aware and according to biographical information that I found even though she briefly lived in Canada she never immigrated to Canada, i.e. NEVER held a Canadian passport, In fact while she was still a child she moved back to Los Angeles to work on Inspector Gadget. Misterrick 06:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes Cree Summer IS Canadian! She was born in LA but grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada. And Besides... her father, Don Francks, is Canadian.

I'm sorry you are wrong she is not Canadian just because she lived in Canada for a brief time and her father was born in Canadian does not make her Canadian. She was born in Los Angeles which as I recall is part of the United States and and she lives in Los Angeles (Again United States) and holds U.S. Citizenship, I agree with User:Misterrick just because she lived in and her father was born in Canada doesn't automatically make her a Canadian citizen. Unless you can provide some proof that Mr. Summer held Canadian citizenship please don't revert. 141.150.104.202 00:31, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Poor picture choice

An artistic photograph like this one is not an idea choice for a biography. It's a pretty photo, but it doesn't give a very accurate representation of Summer's appearance. I am changing it. Midnightguinea 00:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Not that I have any real issue with it, but why is that necessarily a better image? --Happylobster 14:43, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] /noinclude

I don't know how to get rid of that "/noinclude" at the end of the end of the article. Any help? dq 05:24, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't see that tag anywhere in the article. Gdo01 05:26, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Biography restructuring

Okay, so I took the time to polish up her biography. I took out all the unnecessary bits of the listing of her voices in the previous revision as well as actually picking out what I thought were her more identifiable ones (feel free to disagree, tho :)). The African-American stereotype listing has been done away and the roles are branched according to medium instead. I realised at the end of the revision that I forgot to place any years on them, though that's something I'd do tomorrow when I have time.

Is there anything that I should or shouldn't have done? Whichever happens, please leave me a message and I'll be happy to take all critique to heart. Thanks. Freqrexy 02:01, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
