Crew-served weapon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crew-served weapons are weapons that require a crew of several individuals to operate at optimum efficiency, such as artillery pieces, mortars, machine guns, rocket launchers, and automatic grenade launchers.

In contrast, weapons which are carried and operated by a single individual, such as revolvers, carbines, pistols, submachine guns, shotguns, rifles and assault rifles are classified as personal weapons.
