The school is a part of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. The school's mascot is the Mustang. Creekview High School, which currently serves grades 9 through 12, opened in 1998.

[edit] Theater & Speech

Creekview's One-Act Play team won the 5A State Championship in 2001, the first UIL state championship won by the school. Excluding 2004, when they were named alternate, Creekview has attended the state competition every year from 2000-2007, resulting in one championship and four runner-up wins. Several individual performances were recognized at each state meet, including two Best Actor and four Best Actress awards.

Creekview's speech team is also successful in the competitive spheres of the National Forensic League and the Texas Forensic Association. The school regularly has students place at local, state, and national tournaments. D'Angelo Lacy (Class of 2005) won the National Championship in Dramatic Interpretation in 2004.

Creekview hosts the school district's Law & Criminal Justice Academy. In 2006, the Mock Trial team attended their first state meet, and won first place. They went on to receive 18th in the country at the national tournament.

In 2008 the girls golf team won their district tournament by 40 strokes and advanced to regionals in Lubbock. They combined for a team score of 330 and 315 totalling 645 for the two day tournament. Jennifer Park, freshman, placed first in the tournament while April McCoy, freshman, placed third and Paige Gibson, senior finished fourth. Other members of the team include Lexi Grimland, sophomore, Lindsey Smith, sophomore and Emily Campbell, junior.

In the 2005 football season the Creekview Mustang football team made the state playoffs for the second time in school history. They were the third seed out of district 10-5A and faced Dallas Carter in the first round. They lost, and finished the season 6-5. This was the first season under new coach Gary Childress.

In 2004 Creekview Mustang Football team lost the homecoming game 66-3 against the Hebron Hawks. The biggest loss since the school opened.

On April 29, 2006, Travis Wilson (Class of 2002) became the first Creekview alumnus to be drafted to the National Football League. Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Wilson attended the University of Oklahoma as a wide receiver.

In June of 2005, Taylor Teagarden (Class of 2002) was drafted in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers after he won the 2005 College World Series with the University of Texas at Austin. During his junior year in college (2005), Teagarden was a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award (nation's top catcher), First-Team All-Big 12, and later named to the Big 12 Baseball 10th Anniversary Team. He is a client of Scott Boras and currently plays in the Rangers minor league system. He is the son of current Creekview High School Counselor Penny Teagarden.

In 2006 the Creekview Mustang baseball team made the state playoffs for the third time in school history. They were the third seed out of district 10-5A and faced Bryan Adams of DISD in the first round. They won the series against Bryan Adams but were beat in the second round by Mary Tyler Lee. Creekview finished the season 22-9, the baseball team's best record ever.

The girls' varsity soccer team won the 5A state championship in 2003. The girls' varsity soccer team again attended the state meet, but lost in 2006.

Girls 2005: won district 10-5A 2003: Won district 8-5A

Both teams has advanced to the region meet 5 years in a row before the 2006 season.

Band

The Mustang Marching Band has received several auxiliary awards for outstanding marching, outstanding music, outstanding colorguard, and outstanding percussion. It has advanced to the State UIL competetition in San Antonio twice since Creekview's establishment. The Creekview Band has also competed at and advance to finals in competitions such as Carrollton's Tournament of Champions, Bands of America UTA Regional, Bands of America Houston Regional, Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional, and the Golden Triangle Competition in Denton.

The Creekview Concert Bands consistently practice and perform challenging music for UIL and have received several sweepstakes awards. The Creekview Band has traveled to cities consisting of St. Louis, Orlando, Corpus Christi, and many more to compete and place well against schools from around the U.S.

The Creekview Colorguard has a history of a solid guard both in the Marching and Winter seasons. The Creekview Colorguard has received awards and placed in both Marching and Winterguard captions, and it has produced various high ranking individual students at Solo and Ensemble competitions. It also has the reputation for having quite a "Gung Ho" tarp crew which can be seen folding with intensity and often assisting other guards.

The Creekview Percussion and Jazz Ensembles have also competed and received awards at various individual competitions. They have also produced excellent individual students who have advanced to the region bands and gone on to perform at the University level.

Orchestra

The Creekview High School Orchestra, directed by Ms. Julie Blackstock and Mrs. Jennifer Fox, is one of the school's most successful programs. It regularly places many students in the TMEA All-Region and All-State Orchestras. Its students participate in Solo and Ensemble competitions, both at the district, regional, and state levels.

Four Orchestras annually compete in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Competition: Symphony(varsity full), Symphonic(varsity string), Philharmonic(non-varsity) and Concert-Camerata(sub-non-varsity). The Symphonic and Symphony orchestras have received Sweepstakes Awards at these competitions every year since the school's opening, as has the Philharmonic Orchestra for the past two years.

The program's greatest accomplishment to date occurred after the 2006-2007 school year. The Symphony Orchestra was named first runner-up in the TMEA Honor Full Orchestra competition. This highly prestigious competition aims to name the best orchestra in the state of Texas each year. Creekview missed winning the competition by only one vote to Klein High School.
