Creative and Performing Arts High School

Creative Arts High School was first opened in 1999 in Camden, New Jersey, and started with a freshman class of under 50 students. It is one of three magnet schools in Camden, along with Brimm Medical Arts High School and Met East High School. As of fall 2007, it hosts around 190 students in grades 9-12, under the watch of Principal Dr. Davida Coe-Brockington.

[edit] Screening Process

Each year around May, about 100 students are chosen out of the applicants to audition for the school. Out of those 100, around 40 students are chosen. These students are chosen based on their elementary school academic record, a test taken during the audition process, and their overall audition in the fields of Instrumental and Vocal music, Dramatics, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Dance, and Costume Design.

In early 2007 20/20 Aired a special on Camden. One of the students it focused on was a 2006 graduate of Creative Arts, Billy Joe Marrero.

[edit] Creative Arts Next Top Model

Recently, a show has surfaced in the filming stages of production that is centered in this school. The show, titled Creative arts next top model is a show that uses the same format as America's Next Top Model, but in a spoofing manor.
