Cream of mushroom soup is common type of canned soup. The Campbell Soup Company began producing "Cream of Mushroom Soup" in 1934, the same year that it introduced "Chicken with Noodles". Cream of mushroom soup is often found as an important base ingredient in many casseroles and comfort foods. In hotdish country, the ingredient is often called "Lutheran binder", in reference to its thickening properties.
