[edit] misnomer?

How exactly is Crater Lake's name a misnomer? I don't get it. -Pete 16:17, 19 May 2007 (UTC)


Crater Lake is formed from a caldera, not from a crater.

But the first sentence of the article says"A crater lake is a lake that forms in a volcanic crater, caldera, or maar." If this is a misnomer, then this first sentence is misnominating it ;-) Jackrepenning (talk) 06:50, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
