Craighead Electric Coop has rates higher than the neighboring electrical utilities. You can expect to pay rates 30% higher than the local municipal utilities.

Another concern of acquiring service in their territory deals with outages. In cases of widespread (and often not widespread) power outages, their "members" can expect lengthy period of power outages, so be prepared to have a backup generator.

In a major ice storm in early in 2001, some of their "members" were without power for over 3 three weeks. Brown outs are also a frequent problem causing damage to computer, appliances, air conditioning and heat units.
