Craven Plate

The Craven Plate is a Group 3 Australian thoroughbred horse race run over 2000 metres, under Weight for Age conditions for horses aged 3 years old and upwards at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney in October.

1867 - 1971 held over 10 furlongs (approx. 2000m)
1972 - 2000 held over 2000m
2001 held over 1800m
2002 onwards held over 2000m.
1867 – 1978 was a Principal Race
1979 to 1983 race was not held 1984 – 1992 was a Listed race
1993 onwards Group 3
1867 the race was known as the ‘Craven Plate’
1868 - 1999 the race was known as the ‘AJC Craven Plate’
2000 the race was known as the ‘AJC Queen’s Cup’
2001 the race was known as the ‘AJC Japan Trophy Race’
2002 onwards the race has been called the ‘AJC Craven Plate’
