Craig Sharpe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Craig Sharpe (born September 23, 1989 in Carbonear but now living in Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland & Labrador) was the runner-up on Canadian Idol 4 and finished a close second behind winner Eva Avila. He came through seven rounds of auditions judged by Canadian Idol's four-member panel. Sharpe is the second contestant from the small community of Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland, Canada (Jason Greeley from Season 2 was the first), and the fourth contestant from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

When asked during a CTV interview what one person he would like to meet, Sharpe named Selena Quintanilla Perez: "She put a lot of work into what she loved and she didn't get to express her talent." [1]

When asked what song he is touched by the most, he replied "You're Beautiful by James Blunt, because it reminds me of my music teacher Heather Macdonald, who died at the young age of 28." [2]

Sharpe is notable for his higher tenor voice.

[edit] Biography

Born in Carbonear, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada, Sharpe is a grade 12 student at Ascension Collegiate, Bay Roberts, where he excels at music and geography. When not composing music, he likes to spend time with his pets and play basketball, volleyball and badminton.

Sharpe has already performed and won many music contests in Newfoundland and Labrador and compares the nationwide Canadian Idol competition to a provincewide contest. His motto, "Suck it up", comes from the late Heather McDonald and is shortened from "Life's a bitch so suck it up."

Sharpe was the runner-up on Canadian Idol 4, and lost the closest Idol race to date to Gatineau native Eva Avila by just 131 000 votes out of nearly 4 million cast.
