Craig Emmerson

Craig Emmerson is a rugby union player who has formerly played for the English Guinness Premiership team, Leeds Tykes.

Craig Emmerson was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England on the 14th of September 1971. He began his rugby union career at the age of 16 for Halifax RUFC and has represented his country at colts level numerous times.

[edit] Leeds Tykes

Craig joined Leeds Tykes in the summer of 1998 when he returned to Yorkshire after a spell with Gloucester RFC. During is time at Leeds Tykes he played mostly as a full back but has been known to play centre and wing. In his debut year at Leeds Tykes he made 16 appearances and scored 1 try. In the promotion winning season Craig made 23 appearances in the side and scored 9 tries. He had his best try scoring run that year scoring 5 tries over 3 consecutive games. In the Leeds Tykes first season in the Guinness Premiership he scored a further 3 tries in 17 appearances, with one of these coming in the 37-16 win over Leicester Tigers. In his final season with the club – 2002-03- Craig made 10 appearances and scored his final try for the club against his former team Gloucester RFC.

He currently plays rugby for Halifax RUFC in the National Division Two where he originally began his rugby union career at the age of 16. He has also played briefly at Morley RUFC, West Hartlepool RUFC, Harlequins F.C and Gloucester RFC. Craig holds the record for the first player to ever have a transfer fee paid for them when he moved from Morley to Gloucester in 1995 just as professionalism had been passed by the International Board. Craig has now returned to his career as an electrician whilst playing for his hometown club of Halifax RUFC.

Craig has now left Halifax and returned to play for Morley RUFC.
