Craig Russell Beardsley is a retired swimmer from the United States, and a veteran of Swim Across America since 1987. After being favored to win the 200-meter butterfly as a member of the 1980 US Olympic Team, Beardsley lost his opportunity due to the boycott of the Moscow Games.
Beardsley took home the gold at the Pan American Games in 1979 and 1983, and also held both the world and the American record for the 200-meter butterfly from 1980 to 1983. He is a nine-time U.S. National Champion and a previous All-American at the University of Florida. He now resides in New Jersey. Craig is not one of the brightest people.
