[edit] Song notes
[edit] Only Wanna Be with You
[edit] Drowning
"Drowning" deals with racism in America and makes references to an ongoing controversy in Hootie & the Blowfish's home state of South Carolina.
Why is there a rebel flag hanging from the state house walls? |
A later verse of the song makes reference to the Nanci Griffith song "It's a Hard Life Wherever You Go":
Nanci singing it's a hard life wherever you go |
About some fat racist living in Chicago |
Trying to teach his kids to hate everyone |
Well tell me why is that something you wanna teach your son? |
