[edit] Stargate
I was only requesting citation for the fact that it appears again later when the Stargate is affected in some way by an outside force. To do this you just have to cite the episode in which this was seen. If you look around the bottom of the page you will find the "References" section, click one of the little arrow things in front of one and that will take you to where that thing was cited, then just go to the edit screen and copy the format. [edit] Nice work
I see you've been busy on recent changes patrol...keep up the good work! OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:39, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. It is a good idea to use edit summaries. For simple vandalism reverts, "rvv" is fine. Thanks again, OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism patrol
Hi Cpl Syx. I've seen your name popping up a lot recently and I wanted to thank you for your help in removing vandalism from a large number of articles. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I have a couple of suggestions about how you can be even more effective. First its a good idea to use edit summaries: when you edit an article fill in a short summary of what you are doing in the edit summary box at the bottom. This makes it easy for others to see what you are doing at a glance.
Second, when you remove a piece of vandalism, its always a good idea to leave an appropriate message on the vandal's talk page. This lets the user know what they did wrong and let's other editors see the user's past record at a glance. This is very helpful to admins who are responsible for blocking persistent offenders. There are a lot of warning templates available to help you - see Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace for the full list. However most of the time you'll want to leave {{test1}} in the first instance. If the user already has a recent {{test1}} warning, add a {{test2}} instead. This continues all the way up to {{test4}}.
If you find a user vandalizing who has received a {{test4}} message in the last 24 hours you should report them to the administrators intervention against vandalism noticeboard instead. At this point one of the admins will likely block the user.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask my on my talk page. You might also take a look at Wikipedia:Vandalism and Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol which explain anti-vandal action in more detail. Good luck, Gwernol 19:46, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your good clean-up work; it is more appreciated than you know. CKnapp 22:05, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Clara Barton reversion
You had excellent intentions, but you need to be a bit more thorough. You reverted the last edit by the vandal, but you missed two others. See the diff. Unfortunately, your good edit could have masked those from other people who may be watching the most recent edit on that page. So it's sometimes a bit more complicated than just reverting the last edit. When you revert a vandalism, you need to take a look at the page history, and see if there are other recent edits by the same vandal; if so, odds are good they are also vandalism that need to be reverted. Anyway, thank you for your help. Good luck, and keep up the good work defending the Wikipedia. AnonEMouse (squeak) 15:16, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:CVU status
The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you!
