[edit] Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) will produce your name and the current date. You should always sign talk pages, but not articles. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ann Heneghan (talk) 16:40, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your report of 3RR violation

Your report on the 3RR violation has been followed up. Rob Church Talk 16:58, 4 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted images

Yeah... The images were tagged with {{Cc-by-nc}} and {{Cc-by-nc-sa}}. Some Creative Commons licenses are allowed on Wikipedia [1], but the licenses used on those images are listed on that page under "non-free Creative Commons licenses" [2]. The template itself says "If this image was uploaded after May 19, 2005, it will soon be deleted without further warning ... For the purposes of Wikipedia, this is a non-free license." Those licenses used to be allowed, but they're now considered deprecated because they do not allow commercial use, and Wikipedia eventually plans to use its content commercially. [3] Hope that clears things up... Coffee 11:52, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Yup, that would be good. :) Coffee 12:06, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
You can re-upload the image with the appropriate copyright tag. And it would be good to post the email too on the image description page, or an excerpt of it, to verify that it really is under the license you say it is. :) Coffee 14:22, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Ok, DreadlockWoman.jpg deleted. :) Coffee 02:11, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] deeceevoice NPOV violations

Hi DreamGuy, CoYep, and SuperBleda,

If you have specific instances of deeceevoice's violation of NPOV, NOR or CITE could you post them to the deeceevoice rfc talk page? They are outside the scope of the original RfC and can't really be added at this point. Clear, indisputable violations make the best examples. It was a mistake not to include thse in the first place, if deeceevoice tones down her language but persists in content violations, little progress will have been made. -Justforasecond 18:19, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi CoYep, yes the RfC is closed, but can still be edited. Deeceevoice has not made an appearance in about a week, but if she does return with the same attitude, the diffs would be useful for an arbitration case. My guess is that she's just laying low till things blow over but will not change her behavior. It's up to you though. JCarriker and Matt crypto wanted to tone things down and draft a letter to deeceevoice, which is a noble effort. I don't know what it will accomplish, but you're certainly welcome to support that too. -Justforasecond 16:40, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] deeceevoice arbitration

As a party to her RfC, you might be interested to know a request for arbitration has been filed towards deeceevoice Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Deeceevoice.

[edit] Mythical origins of language

Hey man, I seem to remember that you added some stuff to the Dreadlocks article about the Veda or Hindu mythology. I wonder if you can help me out. I'm writing an article, Mythical origins of language, and could use some help with the Hindu mythology part. If you could check it out, and the discussion on the talk page, I'd be very grateful. Thanks! :) - FrancisTyers 20:17, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted edits on Feces

Thank you for experimenting with the page Feces on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Oh, sorry ... I planned to remove vandalism ("For jimbo Wales, feces can provide insight to an animal's diet") - but probably due to an edit conflict (user Stollery [4] and I edited at the same time [5]) I hit the wrong version. CoYep 21:12, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Marley bob.jpg

You need to fix the license on this image, just giving you a heads up, if its not done in a while, I'll IfD it. - FrancisTyers 14:58, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

This seems to be the license he released it under: [6] — although how accurate that is I don't know... it seems surprising that someone who could get that close to Bob Marley and take such a good picture would release it under a license that didn't exist while Bob Marley was alive. - FrancisTyers 15:09, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, we should be checking, especially when downloading from a non-authorative source (i.e. Flickr). Anyone can upload there, there is no copyright checking at all it seems. - FrancisTyers 15:34, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Image:Kinsgton Bob Marley statue.jpg would be much better. - FrancisTyers 15:56, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wallace Fard Muhammad

Hi, I think we need some references for the many assertions you are adding. In one edit summary you say "According to Hazel they divorced because he was "temperamental" (p.5/p.74))". So that's p.5 and p.74 of what? Footnotes in the article need to be added. Paul B 15:11, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey Paul! Thanks for the note. It's all taken from the FBI file. Informations about their marriage are on page 5 (p.5) and Hazel's comment about divorcing Wallace because he was "temperamental" is on page 74 (p.74). I just added some more informations about his rise to power, would be great if you could NPOV/POV-review it. Thanks! CoYep 15:28, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 3RR and voting

Hi, CoYep. You said you cast a support vote here [7]. I think a thing needs to be set up. You know..support and oppose, and then you add your vote to support. Know what I mean? Whiskey Rebellion 00:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

yes, I know that this isn't up for vote yet, the phrase I used was merely an expression of agreement, not ment to be a voting. I think we should leave it to JFS to set if up when he returns from his break. CoYep 06:20, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks. Whiskey Rebellion 17:16, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Sadhus.jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:Sadhus.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Improper license, uploaded after 20050519 (WP:CSD#I4)

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

[edit] Apologies.

I'm sorry about the revert to Black Supremacy. I just saw what seemed like patent nonsense in my 'popups' tool. Once again, I apologize. I didn't realize the context. Feel free to un-revert my edit. PumeleonT 03:05, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:AngstEssenSeeleAuf.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AngstEssenSeeleAuf.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
