Cowichan Lake is located on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It is located 30 km west of Duncan, British Columbia along the Cowichan Valley.
The lake itself is 30 km long. It is surrounded by several communities. The Town of Lake Cowichan is located on the east end of the lake and is the largest community. Along the south side of the lake are the communities of Honeymoon Bay and Mesachie Lake as well as the Gordon Bay Provincial Park. On the north side is community of Youbou.
The whole Cowichan Valley was a thriving lumber centre in British Columbia. The area is largely developed because of the extensive logging that took place surrounding the lake.
The area is part of the Cowichan Valley Regional District.
