This article is about the New York Mets' Cowbell Man. For the New York Yankees' Cowbell Man, a title jointly held by Ali Ramirez and Milton Ousland, see Bleacher Creatures.

Cowbell Man is a fan of the New York Mets. He can be seen at nearly every home game, at Shea Stadium, wandering around the stands while banging a cowbell. He typically wears what appears to be a personalized batting practice jersey, with the name "Cowbell Man" and the number 15, which on the Mets is currently assigned to Carlos Beltran. Prior to the Mets' acquisition of Beltran, Cowbell Man's jersey featured the number 23. He changed it because, when spoken with an exaggeratedly long drawl, "Carlos Beltran" and "Cowbell Man" sound almost the same.

Cowbell Man's real name is Eddie Boison, and he has been profiled in the New York Daily News, as well as fiercely debated on various Mets fan blogs. He is also frequently compared to Freddy Sez, a longtime supporter of the New York Yankees who walks around Yankee Stadium with a pan, encouraging people to bang on it in support of the team. The Yankees also have their own Cowbell Man, although he sits out in the bleachers rather than the upper deck, and his routine is different.
