[edit] Plot synopsis

On a game show a couple named Tom and Mary win a trip to South Park for the "Cow Days" festival. Though this was far from what they hoped for in a prize, they decide to try to enjoy it anyway. Meanwhile, (Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman) are at the carnival, but find it far less than satisfactory, containing rides such as "The Chamber of Farts" and the "Line Ride." They finally find something enjoyable, however, in a ball-throwing game that allows them the chance to win a pair of Terrance and Phillip dolls, but the game is rigged and cannot be won (to win, the balls must be thrown through Jennifer Love Hewitt's mouth, but they do not fit). It is very expensive, costing $5 for three balls and the fact the game cannot be won makes it a cash-guzzling scam. The boys also don't notice the sexual nature of the game. At first, Kyle tries to call shenanigans on them, but the carny running the stall has cleverly replaced the boy's third try with a ball small enough to fit through the hole and Kyle is unable to justify his shenanigans. After Kyle wins and Barbrady is gone, the carny goes back on his word and tells them they have to win seven times to get the dolls. They decide to enter Cartman in the bull-riding contest to try to win $5,000; enough money to play until they get the dolls.

Meanwhile, all the cows in the town discover the festival's symbol, a giant cow-shaped clock which moos every hour and carry it off to start their own Cult, where they begin to worship it as a god. The visitors from the game show are accused of stealing the cows and the clock and are thrown in jail.

During practice for the bull-riding contest, Cartman is thrown and hits his head. He is then diagnosed with a peculiar state of amnesia, believing himself to be a Vietnamese prostitute named Ming Li. He goes up to random people offering "Sucky, Sucky? 5 dorra!" or "Faki, Faki, 10 dorra!". He enters the contest anyway, and manages to win. After an overnight stay with Leonardo DiCaprio, Cartman finally gets his memory back.

The leaders of the town find the cows and confront them, telling them to go back to their proper places in society. The cows, in a cult-like fashion, commit mass suicide, and the people of the town are powerless to stop them, and mourn the cows' sad action.

Back at the carnival, the Toss-A-Ball carny decides to just let the boys buy the dolls with their $5,000 rather than play for them. But when the boys discover that, as they originally suspected, the dolls are not authentic but cheap knock-offs. Kyle once again calls shenanigans on the game, making everyone else realise how stupid and lame the carnival is. Eventually, the entire carnival is destroyed by the rioting citizens of South Park.

In the excitement of the riot, Tom and Mary are forgotten and starve to death in prison. A plan to cover up the deaths is arranged; everyone is instructed to claim that they never arrived in South Park to begin with, and thus ends the Cow Days Festival.

[edit] Kenny's death

Kenny is impaled through the head on the right horn of a bull "Ming Li" was riding, after it threw him off and crashed through a wooden fence. Also notable is the fact that, after Cartman is bucked off the old bull and is lying on the ground, Kenny proclaims, "Oh my god, they killed Cartman!" to which Kyle replies "No they didn't kill him, he's still breathing!"

[edit] Cultural references

  • Cartman's delusion that he is a Vietnamese prostitute is a reference to the movie Full Metal Jacket. Trey Parker has claimed that Stanley Kubrick is one of his favorite directors and several homages to other Kubrick films have been in other episodes.
  • At the end of the episode, when Cartman realizes that he WAS, in fact, on the bull, a limo pulls up; the driver being an alien. This is an obvious allusion to the series' first episode, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe."
