Coventry Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Coventry Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres) at Ascot Racecourse during the Royal Ascot meeting in June.
It was first run in 1890 and was named after George Coventry, 9th Earl of Coventry, who was Master of the Buckhounds between 1886 and 1892.
The race was upgraded to Group 2 status in 2004, having been previously contested at Group 3 level.
