Coventry Phoenix is the name of Coventry's only female ice hockey team. The team was established in 2003, and currently competes in Division One (North) of the British Women's Leagues. They play out of the SkyDome Arena, in city centre Coventry, the same venue as the Coventry Blaze men's professional ice hockey teams.
[edit] History
Phoenix are currently in their 2nd league season. In 2004 they joined Division One (South) and finished in 7th place with a record of 6 wins, 1 tie and 13 losses in the 11 team league. At the 2005 League AGM it was decided that they would move to the Northern League, and currently they are 5th in the 8 team league.
Coventry competed in a total of four tournaments, twice in Milton Keynes, finishing 6th of 8 teams in 2004 and runner-up in 2005. In addition to this they have played twice outside of Great Britain, both times at a tournament in Tallinn, Estonia hosted by the HC Dreamland Queens. In 2004 they finished 4th of 5 teams, and in 2005 finished 7th out of 8 teams.
