[edit] Welcome
Hello, Counterfit, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Newcomers help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- How to edit a page, and the Editing tutorial, for basic editing info
- Picture tutorial - How to stick images into articles. Note that you can't hyperlink to images hosted elsewhere, you'll have to upload a copy to Wikipedia.
- Naming conventions - "How should I name my new article? Why can't I start it with a lowercase letter?"
- Manual of Style - this covers those details like "Is it okay to change from British to American spellings?"
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia - this covers the ground rules like don't pick fights with people.
Two other details: First, you can sign your posts on discussion (non-article) pages by typing ~~~~. This produces a signature letting everyone else know who wrote the comment. Also, you should take note of the edit summary box that appears below the editing area: you can put a short description of your changes there. You may want to mark it as a minor edit if it's something like fixing a typo. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or ask me on my talk page. [edit] Gordon Murray
Hi, I see you added a note about 'recent contribution to Road and Track'. I think that this is kind of a 'news' item that probably has little longterm value. This kind of comment spoils the 'encyclopedia' nature of Wikipedia - i.e. longterm validity. I'd like to ask you to remove the note. Nigel Cross
- Upon digging, I found that he is actually now a Contributing Editor for Road & Track. I've updated the comment accordingly. Counterfit 08:20, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 2001 American League Division Series
Hi, :D I was doing fast stub sorting when I stumbled upon that article, and while skimming my eyes caught some (what I thought) was weasel-like words and slap that in. It must've been that phrase you quoted. Anyway, I'll just go ahead and erase it along with the tag.
