I would like to question whether or not a sheriff can hear a trial in solemn cases without a jury.--86.150.25.2 21:47, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

A sheriff cannot as a solemn trial is by definition with a jury. The Lockerbie trial (conducted by the high Court) may have technically been a solemn trial but that was highly exceptional and special ad hoc legilsation was required.--Lucifer 12:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
