[edit] Confusion

One of my sources, Gregorovius' history of medieval Rome, seems to confuse Ptolemy I and Ptolemy II. It continually refers to a Ptolemy II as count of Tusculum from well before 1126, the date most other sources give for his father Ptolemy I's death. So, when did Ptolemy I die and when did he cease to be count (if they are not the same date)? When did Ptolemy II become count and, if not until 1126, can it be explained which Ptolemy it is who did the acts described in Gregorovius (one of which is found on the page Henry V, Holy Roman Emperor)?
