[edit] Canada has not officially recognized Kosovo

Just to let you know Canada does not recognize Kosovo and has no official position on it yet. You should probably remove the green from it. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Britland15 (talkcontribs) 06:10, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Nevermind, I just checked the reference. I'm oh so very wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Britland15 (talkcontribs) 06:12, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Taiwan is not a country. Please remove the green from that island

Kosovo is too good for recognition from a fake country like Taiwan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.7.58.13 (talk) 21:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

How is it fake? The fact 23 countries only recognize it? Then by that idea, kosovo is fake to. Take your pov away from here.--Jakezing (talk) 13:13, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Somebody put Malaysia green please

Just fill it in green please. Ijanderson977 (talk) 08:47, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] How about someone fill in the red

The may should also denote the countries that have explicitly stated that they will NOT recognize Kosovo: Serbia, Russia, Spain, Venezuela, etc. If green denotes recognition, presumably red would be the best color to denote the opposite. 141.166.230.9 (talk) 17:03, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Nope, this map is just meant to show which countries DO recognise the Republic of Kosovo, similar to other recognition maps (compare SADR, Palestine, Taiwan). The more complicated was deemed to be likely to cause edit wars over interpreting statements of different governments in different ways. —Nightstallion 19:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
If green denotes recognition, using red to denote rejection would incite a massive dispute over biased color selection (For good reason). 68.39.174.238 (talk) 03:06, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it's a good idea to fill in those who directly oppose its independence with another color. Otherwise in order to achieve NPOV we would have to create another map altogether, which in my opinion would be a waste of space. It should be one or the other regardless, there's no reason why those states should not be represented in a map, if not this one.Sbw01f (talk) 10:41, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Old Version

Does anyone have the old version of green and red, by any chance? I would have saved it if I knew that it would be replaced (and I can't find it anymore). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.15.0.116 (talk) 02:05, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

It's still on WP:GL/IMPROVE 68.39.174.238 (talk) 00:01, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I saw it on another kosovo page, i think the one about the decleration.--Jakezing (talk) 13:14, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] States in the process

At the very least I think we should have the nations we know are going to be recognized with a light green. Norway, Croatia, and Lithuania are all just a matter of time.--The Devil's Advocate (talk) 02:23, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I was going to say the same thing. Avxxv (talk) 12:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I disagree. The only certainty, on which everyone can agree and which is impossible to dispute, is that a state either recognises Kosovo or does not - at the present time. I note Nightstallion's reasoning against depicting countries that have refused to recognise Kosovo, and believe that his arguments are even more applicable here. [edit] Monaco

According to the article, Monaco has recognised Kosovo. Avxxv (talk) 12:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Overseas territories

Should places like Guyana, French Guiana etc. be coloured green as well, as their "parent" countries have recognised Kosovo? Such places would never be coloured green otherwise, and it makes it look like they are countries that have not recognised. — sjorford++ 17:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

It's alright, ignore me, I'm talking nonsense - FG has been coloured, and Guyana is an independent country for about 40 years now! I've obviously been drinking... — sjorford++ 18:02, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] South Korea… and Norway

Until it is official or is sourced, the RoK should not be shown as recognizing Kosovo on the map. Just making sure we get this right people. Ajbenj (talk) 09:08, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I just browsed trough Google News today and saw that Norway decided to recognize Kosovo. Maybe lately we can see more sources (like B92) talking about it.
here is the link with the recognition text. http://www.regjeringen.no/nn/dep/ud/Pressesenter/Pressemeldingar/2008/norge_kosovo.html?id=505130

[edit] Will the Philippines recognize it?

When will the Philippines recognize the independence of Kosovo? Alexius08 is welcome to talk about his contributions. 10:41, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Philippines decided not to recognize as they advocate further negotiations. I think they also might be waiting for the International Court decision like Indonesia. --Avala (talk) 12:23, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SADR Map

This isn't strictly on topic, so I apologize for inconvenience but would anyone here consider doing a new version of the SADR map? The current one is way to complex. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Foreign_relations_of_the_SADR.PNG . SADR, just for clarification, is the partially recognized state that claims the territory of Western Sahara and controls the far eastern portion of it. 141.166.224.83 (talk) 14:58, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lithuania already recognized Kosovo

Lithuania is already recognized Kosovo independence. Could somebody update map?--pdxx123 aptarimas 12:45, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

It's updated already on Commons (under the same name), and this local copy has been marked for speedy deletion, but so far it hasn't happened. Perhaps it will happen today, as the problem has been mentioned as part of an editprotect request on the international reaction to the 2008 Kosovo declaration of independence article talk page. --Mareklug talk 13:11, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
