Couverden Island

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Couverden Island is a small island located at the western entrance to Lynn Canal in Alaska. It was first identified by the British sea captain George Vancouver during his 1792-1794 exploration of the Pacific Northwest, Alaskan and Canadian Pacific coasts. Vancouver named Couverden Island after the small city of Coevorden in the east of the Netherlands, which was the hometown of his Dutch ancestors. Couverden Island is located in southeastern Alaska.
