Courtney Fathom Sell (born in Boston, Massachusetts 28 January 1985) is an award winning American filmmaker who specializes in documentary films.[1]

[edit] Early Life
After leaving Pratt Institute at the age of 18, Sell began traveling the country making no-budget documentaries on the people who he met along the way.[2] He claims to have created most of his work while homeless, and has lived in Washington Square Park for a brief amount of time[3].

His film "No Place Like Home" based on 'Defend New Orleans' creator Jac Currie went on to win 'Best Picture' at the 2006 'Blue November Film Festival', Tulsa Oklahoma,[4] and screen at the Casablanca Theater in Dresden, Germany. All money generated from DVD sales of 'No Place Like Home' goes directly towards Gulf Coast restoration and Hurricane Katrina relief funds[5]. Main Subject and 'Defend New Orleans' creator Jac Currie appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show to promote the film and his fashion line during her Mardi Gras special in 2007[6] The film was recently picked up by 'Emphasis Entertainment', and will see its official DVD release in the summer of 2008.[7]
While most of Mr. Sell's films are based on personal experiences, he has shot many acclaimed music videos and experimental films. His documentary "My Dying Day", which is a personal account of the last months of his late father Bradley Sell, went on to win "Best Short Documentary" at the 2007 'Evil City Film Festival'[8]. Courtney Fathom Sell is the inventor of "Crash Cinema" - a type of film based strictly on a declaration of rules in which he has written[9]. He is Co-Founder of 'Slumlord Productions'.

Commonly working as a film and music journalist, Mr. Sell has gone on to interview many acclaimed filmmakers and artists who have influenced his career such as Sheri Moon Zombie, Andrew Zimmern, Bruce LaBruce, and Nick Zedd[10]
