Course of Nature is a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band. Band members include Mark Wilkerson (lead vocals, rhythm guitar); Sean Kipe (lead guitar), Jackson Eppley(bass); and Shane Lenzen O'Connell(drums).

Singer Mark Wilkerson and guitarist John Milldrum first appeared on the musical scene in 2000 as part of the Alabama band Cog (not to be confused with the Australian progressive group). Inspired by a diverse spectrum of music - from Motown to metal - Cog first made a name playing Alabama's cover band circuit, with set lists including everything from Duran Duran to Warrant to Metallica.

Cog's self-released debut album, No Time At All, was released in March 2001. That July, Wilkerson and Milldrum decided to head out on their own. The pair invited Rickey Shelton, formerly of hard rock group Dust for Life, to join them in the studio. After considering calling themselves "Pull", the new band took the name "Course of Nature", which had been the name of one of the tracks on No Time At All.

Based of the strength of the demo recordings, Course of Nature soon signed with Lava/Atlantic. By October 2001, the band had largely completed their debut album, Superkala. The album was produced by Matt Martone, who has worked with bands such as 3 Doors Down and Breaking Point, and mixed by Randy Staub, who has worked with P.O.D. and Nickelback. Superkala was released in 2002, and the single "Caught in the Sun" was an instant success in Alabama, and eventually spread to other markets.

In 2006, Course of Nature came up after a break and wrote their next record, Damaged. They worked on it with producer David Bendeth, who is known for producing albums for Hawthorne Heights, Breaking Benjamin and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. It was released on January 29, 2008.
