France

The village of Coupvray, in France, lies about 36 miles east of Paris. It is administratively a commune, the lowest level of administrative area, lying within the Seine-et-Marne département in Île-de-France. It is best known as the birthplace and home of Louis Braille. As of 2005, the mayor is François Bentz.

Braille's home is now a museum, a site for visitors. The Castle of Rohan, built over the period 15961602 by Hercule de Rohan, Duke of Montbazon, is another visitor attraction, although it is now mostly in ruins. And Disneyland Resort Paris is nearby.
